The Mongolian Academy of Educational Sciences: 25 Years of Activities and Achievements

Abstract

Defining and implementing a country's educational policy requires conducting research on development policy and generating objective results. While research institutions inherently strive to accurately assess the actual situation, government and administrative bodies often demand results that serve their immediate needs. This creates a conflict between administrative and research entities, highlighting the necessity for independent research. Established in Mongolia in 2001, the Academy of Educational Sciences is a research institution created in response to societal demand; its mandate is to independently research and define the scientific foundations of the country's educational development and instructional practices. In the new century, fostering and developing a "Global Mongol"—an individual who is healthy, educated, humane and ethical, a creative thinker, and a productive worker—must serve as the core of the state's human development policy; therein lies the social role to be fulfilled by the Academy of Educational Sciences.
