Practices and Insights in Implementing the Mentor Student Program for High School Students

English language education is specifically highlighted as an important pillar in the education policy documents, in terms of preparing future Mongolian citizens with globally competitive skills. In this context, the “Implementation plan of English for All program” approved by the Minister of Education and Science in 2022 includes the implementation of an intensive English language “Mentor Student” program for high school students in state-owned secondary education schools. “Mentor Student” program is a special program that enables children with advanced English skills to teach English to their peers. The Foreign Language Center of the MNIER has implemented this year-long intensive English language program in 70 schools nationwide, and authors investigated the implementation process and results of this program and presented the main points that need to be considered for further improvement.
