Abstract

In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the prevalence of negative behaviors, particularly aggression, among university students in Inner Mongolia. Data collected from the “Mental Health Test” issued by China’s Ministry of Education in 2019 and 2023 reveal that approximately 66.8 percent of students surveyed at Hulunbuir University exhibited signs of behavioral problems. This study aims to identify the causes and expressions of such behaviors and to propose educational strategies for mitigation. A total of 1,500 students participated in the study, which employed internationally recognized behavioral assessment tools, including the 16PF personality test, direct observation, surveys, experiments, and in-depth interviews. Findings show that aggressive behaviors—verbal, physical, and interpersonal—are significantly influenced by familial environments, developmental stages, and social pressures. Based on these findings, this study proposes the implementation of the "Psychological Counseling and Emotional Management" program as an effective intervention to reduce student aggression and improve emotional well-being.
